The Highlander Inn is in the centre of the village of Craigellachie, Speyside, the heart of Scotland's Malt Whisky Trail.

With 5 en-suite bedrooms in the main building as well as an additional 2 houses just 35 metres from the main building, whisky bar, "club room", outdoor patio, lounge, and private, off-street parking, it truly is a great little place to stay when visiting this wonderful part of Scotland. We are open all year, and have a warm, friendly and relaxing atmosphere; a really cosy, hospitable "home from home".

We are recognised as one of Scotland's best known "Village Inns" and a truly international "hot spot" for whisky tourism.

We have been awarded Gold Bar status by the readers of Whisky Magazine and one of the top 51 Whisky Bars in the world for 2010, 2011, and 2012.

We have a small but excellent and dedicated team of people ~ the majority of whom are 'locals' ~ whose aim is to ensure your stay is as comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

  • Rachel Richard from Dufftown ~ Assistant Manager, arrived in September 2007. Rachel is currently on maternity leave having had a wee baby boy, Daniel James, born on 28th January 2013.
  • Pamela Pearce from Aberlour ~ Chef de Partie, returned in April 2008.
  • Ella Morrison from Maggieknockater ~ Housekeeping, started in October 2010.
  • Fraser Elphick from Lower Largo, Fife ~ Bar Manager, started in December 2011.
  • Paul Barnsley from Yorkshire ~ Chef de Partie, joined us in March 2012.
  • Sarah Cook from Forres ~ Bar & Food Service, started in November 2012.
  • Cassandara Thornton originally from The Netherlands, now living in Elgin ~ Bar & Food Service, joined in April 2013.
  • Mayu Hamanishi from Osaka, Japan ~ Bar & Food Service, is our new whisky "otaku" and joined us in May 2013, following in the footsteps of Tatsuya Minagawa and, most recently, Yumi Yoshikawa.
