It is with the greatest of regret that we announce the tragic death of one of our working colleagues.

Jakub Ivanov was involved in an horrific car accident in Aberdeen on Wednesday 15th August 2007.

He passed away at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Wednesday 22nd August 2007 without regaining consciousness. His family, from the Czech Republic, and his girlfriend were by his side when he died.

Jakub joined us at the Highlander Inn in April 2006 and spent the last eighteen months working in the Bar, serving both food & drinks; in the restaurant; taking room reservations and checking out customers. (in other words, almost everything!) A totally professional and hardworking employee who was friendly with everyone, he ALWAYS did his best and never complained.

He was a super guy who was a very reliable employee and extremely popular with colleagues and customers alike, who will be remembered for his dry sense of humour and quick ripostes. His passing is a huge loss to us all, both staff and customers ~ it was a privilege to have known him.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his mother, father and elder brother now back home in the Czech Republic, as well as to his girlfriend, who lives locally.
